What is DPAS? Driver Performance Analysis System is a system (that is not owned by MATTS) that the state of Florida recognizes as part of the requirements for a driving instructor to be certified temporarily to work for a driving school. The cost is $100.00 for the first attempt, $75.00 for the second attempt, and $50.00 for the third attempt. To register for a 2nd or 3rd attempt please contact the office directly. Once the link is emailed and clicked on it cannot be used again, regardless of the reason for non-completion and or failure. YOU CANNOT USE A PHONE FOR THIS, and it should be taken on a Windows-based computer. If you use an Apple device you risk the chance of errors occurring, therefore resulting in an incompletion or failure. This is a way for schools to "try out and evaluate instructors" before enrolling them in the 32-hour DITC. We suggest that you do all the requirements with us on this website. Also, we suggest that you realize the DPAS course does not instruct in any way shape or form, but rather a straight evaluative suggestion tool as to the crash probability in relationship to miles driven.
What are the two types of instructor certifications?
GRAY CARD = TEMPORARY CERTIFICATION (last up to 6 months) – (a Gray Card issued by DMV with instructor's pic on Gray card) This means that a person or company "in possession" of a gray card from the DMV can work only up to 6 months of the date of issuance on the gray card so long as that person and or company is registered with the DMV to provide temporary driving instruction. Only (1) gray card ever allowed www.flhsmv.gov> After completion of DPAS online course results will be emailed (TO THE SAME EMAIL THE DPAS COURSE LINK WAS SENT TO/we suggest having the link sent to the owner of the school, not the individual person), anywhere from 24-48 hours after the completion of the DPAS course. The DPAS completion results with a score higher than 61% are just one of the requirements needed) for temporary certification.
BLUE CARD YEARLY CERTIFICATION (renewed yearly) and only after a 32-hour DITC course is completed– a Blue Card issued by DMV with the instructor's pic on BLUE card means that a person or company "in possession" of a BLUE card from the DMV can work for 1 year from the date of issuance on the blue card so long as that person & company are registered with the DMV to provide driving instruction. A separate form www.flhsmv.gov needs to be sent after the completion of the 32-hour DITC course (offered every 2-3 months by MATTS ( click for 2023 schedule) Yes this is the same link to obtain a gray card) but the answers are answered differently this time because of the completion of the 32-hour DITC and all of the requirements by the DMV.
